Kurt had not quite forgotten what Sue had said about him needing to lose weight. Everyone always said Kurt was so little and skinny, but then again Sue seemed to say the harsh truth when nobody else could.
Maybe I do need to lose weight. I have some major hips. They make buying skinny jeans difficult. And I don't have much muscle.
Kurt pinched his stomach. About an inch of skin came between his fingers. That inch was an inch too much for Kurt. He decided to go to the gym and work out for once in his life.
Inside the gym it smelled like rubber and sweat. A football player was doing chin ups in the corner and some cheerios were leaving with towels slung over their shoulders.
Kurt watched the football player's chiseled arm swell each time he pulled his chin up to the bar. Then kurt looked at his own skinny arm and sighed. He picked up a twenty pound weight in each hand and and started whipping them up and down, much faster than was safe.

Puck headed to the gum for his routine workout session. He made an effort to keep his bigguns in tip top shape--especially now since he wasn't on the football team anymore, he had to take special care of those puck guns and abs. Besides, he might even get a chance to oggle at some of those cheerio chicks. If he was lucky, they'd almost be as hot as he was. Smirking at that thought, puck sat himself down and began lifting weights. It was chicken feet to him since he lifted those weights often.

Suddenly Kurt felt a sharp pain in his arm. He yelped and let both weights roll off his fingers and drop to the floor.
Kurt closed his eyes tightly and stood there consentrating on the pain in his arm. He shouldn't have whipped those weights up and down so quickly when he wasn't used to working out. He probably pulled a muscle.
Kurt melted to the floor and whimpered softly, rubbing the sore spot. He looked pathetic and out of place in that room with all the pictures of William McKinely atheletes on the walls.

Puck heard the yelp and replaced the weights, cocking up a brow and looked around for the source of it. His eyes widened when he spotted kurtin the gym, he seemed kind of out of place. He smirked at the boy, he must have pulled a muscle.

Kurt looked up and blinked his big blue-green eyes. Then he pouted when he realized Puck had witnessed his, err, failure.
Kurt didn't admit it to himself, but he had a secret rivalry with Puck. It wasn't that Kurt wanted to be sporty, or buff, or a jerk, but he wanted to be respected like Puck. Also, Puck was Finn's best friend, and how could Kurt not be jealous of that?
This was why Kurt hated being caught in a weak position around Puck.
"Um... normally I lift weights a lot heavier than that... I've just been helping my dad carry a lot of heavy machinery lately."

Puck snorted. "uh huh, don't pull your muscle," he smirked, and carried on weight lifting. Kurt and weights so didn't go together.

Kurt felt totally defeated. He got up slowly and headed for the door, walking past all the pictures of athletes in uniforms. Then something caught his eye, and he stopped.
There was a picture of a little boy with a huge smile on his face, being carried by a bunch of football players. It was Kurt after he had broken the tie and won the game.
Confidence rushed back through Kurt's veins. And so did one of Kurt's plans. On of Kurt's rash and somewhat selfish plans that don't end well.
He grinned and danced out the door.

Puck rolled his eyes after the gay boy, wondering what was up with him now. Shrugging, he went back to lifting weights
