June 13, 2010.
The significance of that day to all of us is huge. Exactly 1 year ago, to the day, Nick created this website. I'm sure none of us knew what we were getting ourselves into when we signed up! 1 year ago today, a huge part of my life was created. Does that make me sound like a bore? Perhaps. But it's true. You all make up such a big part of my life now. And to think it would start off with a seemingly small role-play group...
As you've seen, members here are from all over the world. Canada, Scotland, the US, the UK—quite a few different areas. No matter where any of us live, there's always the constant reminder of each other and the reasons why we all joined and fell in love with Glee. No matter if it was from a moral standpoint, being able to relate to a storyline—either way, we've all at some point been able to relate to the show. And because we all share that in common, we're been able to meet each other. Who knows what we would be doing had we not met each other? I'm absolutely blessed and extremely grateful that I've been fortunate and lucky enough to share this past year of my life with you all. I've laughed, cried, shared amazing memories, and made even more. I could not have been luckier than to have met everyone on here. Each and every single one of you mean so much to me. I'm friends with everyone here, and to Nick I owe the pleasure of having that opportunity
Today, on our "anniversary," if you will, I wanted to do something to show my gratitude to everyone I've met through this website. It might just be a form of an essay, or a speech, but I truly mean every word that I type. And if you've stayed with me up to this point, thank you. That is all I can ask. I ask you also to bear with me, as I have quite a few words left to be spoken, and quite a few emotions I feel I should express in this 'reflection' of the year that has gone by far too quickly.
I am very lucky to have been endowed over the past year of knowing you all. I know this is something that has been repeated by myself many a time before. However, I am extremely appreciative of all that has been given to me—the jokes, the stories, the memories, but most importantly, the friendships. Although it is true that we don't know each other in "real life," I still consider each and every friendship acquired as something valuable, something very close to my heart. I feel as though we've known each other forever, even if it only has been a year. So many wonderful people I got to meet, and so many wonderful things I was able to learn about them through the power of this simple site. To some, this may be just a site to relieve tension, have fun, await the end of the hiatus. I see it as all of the above, too. Additionally, I also see it as a place where I have great friends—ones who are trustworthy, have been through a lot with each other and myself, and who are always willing to be a friend.
Another enormous thank you to Nick. As stated previously, a huge part of my life is now made up of the extraordinary people I have met as a result of the site. Nick is absolutely one of them. Without you, Nick, I have no idea what I would do during the hiatus, or the off-season (read: summer) for theatre!! You've made this past year an especially great one. For that, I'm extending a giant thank you (and a virtual hug, if you choose to accept). I know we may not often have the chance to speak; nonetheless, whenever we do, laughs are always guaranteed. You are an amazing person, and someone I greatly value the friendship of.
Although I would love to expand on every single person on this website as I did above for Nick, it's nearly 1:00am, and I have finals in the morning. I will possibly add them in after school today though, because I believe you all deserve a special shoutout, if you will. But, if I don't have the time or ability to get to a computer, THANK YOU. Thank you all for being fantastic. For putting up with my rants. For staying up with me on random nights. For helping to role-play some of the most random situations. And honestly, for just always being there. For that, I'm extremely thankful to have every last one of you in my life.
I understand that I am currently lying in my bed, typing this out on the iPod screen where many posts have been made and read (ok, too nostalgic, perhaps...) and to many this might sound repetitive, preachy, and meaningless. Especially now that I have essentially typed out an entire essay. I hope my intentions are clear and just. I understand as well that none of this was needed, and some parts may sound absolutely absurd. I did, however, feel obliged to write some form of a post, no matter how small or large, thanking you all and showing you how much I truly care about every single person I've had the pleasure of interacting with. You are all amazing, and I wouldn't trade the friendships I've obtained here for the world. I'm a very, very lucky girl to have been blessed with the gift of knowing everyone I now care so greatly about. So, here's to another year of simply being us...and having a great time doing so. C'est la vie
Many thanks for your time, love, and friendship. Infinite hugs to everyone.
