Shelby took in a sharp breath. When Rachel had adressed Shelby as her mother it had filled her with a sense of pride and joy. And then Sue tore it down. Well if she was looking for a reaction, Shelby was going to give her one.

"Shut up!" the words came out louder than she intended She felt the regret of not being in Rachel's life all those years swell up/

Rachel still wanted to show an unaffected face.

"If you have gotten your facts straight, I am not adopted. One half... o-or two thirds of me are my dads', whom I still live with, so if you don't have it correct, Ms. Sylvester, I humbly recommend that you don't talk. Also..-", Rachel wasn't sure if this was the right thing to say, "-.. since you don't have it drilled into your cerebrum yet, it's Rachel. R-A-C-H-E-L."

She hoped being that un-Rachel-ly cruel would make Sue finally stop. Rachel's original intention was to talk to her mother, not fight with the one who got her suspended in the first place.

Sue glared right back over to Rachel, the same glare as that day in the Principal's office, Sue wondered whether to extend the suspension, or whether to keep winding her up.. she settled for the easiest method.

"Facts? Maybe you should listen to what I have to say first.. a mother.. is someone who raises a child.. So.. here's the question.. did Lippy here, raise you?? or did your Fathers raise you?"

Sue smirked at her comment, she knew she was better at arguing, she was meaner, sharper, but found that Rachel had picked up partly on her skills at arguing, she was not going to be beaten though, Sue was prepared to pull out all the stops in order to make this girls life a misery, nevertheless, she had already made her school-life a living HELL

( *giggle* Rachel got some of Sue's arguing skills )

Rachel scoffed.

"What is with you and being irrelevant? First we were talking about being "adopted" and now you're talking about mothers and fathers. Well let me just go with the flow. My fathers raised me very well. How about you, Ms. Sylvester?", she said, gently. She didn't like how she was very unlike herself. She wanted to just insult-ish but at the same time, not feel too guilty.

"Rachel," Shelby warned "Don't dig yourself into a deeper hole." She was proud that her daughter was sticking up for herself, and couldn't help but see a bit of herself in Rachel; however, she didn't want to see her get into more trouble because of it.

"Listen Sue, if you don't have anything better to do than harass a student I have no problem getting the school board involved. If you rather I didn't then I'd suggest you back off my daughter and take up any problems you have with me."

Sue chuckled at Shelby's remark, Sue was still principal at McKinley, and the school board would definetly not fire a principal teacher, on account of a regular staff member, at a RIVAL school!

"Okay.. the sheer pleasure of tormenting your abandoned child, is enough for me, try and get me fired, file a lawsuit, do whatever you need to do, but I hope you know I have the best lawyer in the whole of Ohio, Ms Gloria Allred. Please, try it, it will only crush your reputation into smithereens, that is.. if you still have a reputation.."

Shelby was not about to back down, it was a matter of pride now. "Yes, I'm sure the county will just love to hear how the principal of a school is spending their time at another school's auditorium harrasing a teacher and a student. During school hours I might add. You're not the only one who the school board holds in esteem."

[Rachel Berry ★]

Rachel just smiled at Shelby, for calling her "daughter" and nodded at Sue, more seriously. Now she knows where she got that inner verbal defense.

... And maybe the school board would be able to un-suspend me, which would lead to me coming back to Glee in time for Sectionals!, she thought.

Sue smirked at Shelby, Shelby had no idea of how Sue's rights as Principal worked, she could visit other schools, make up an excuse, looking for new teaching methods perhaps? or maybe just a simple.. business trip.

"Listen here botox, I know my civil rights, a LOT more than you do, unless you have been a principal in a school? You have no authority to scold me with your 'threatening words'... when I was simply on a business trip.."

"Well apparently, you don't know what 'business trip' means!", Rachel said under her breath.

[Shelby Corcoran]

Shelby nodded in agreement with Rachel "I'd rather hate to see how McKinley's being run if you consider this 'business.'" Shelby knew her smart-alec remark would come back to bite her, but she really couldn't help it. It just came naturally to her.

Rachel laughed, and nodded in agreement.

[Sue Sylvester]

Sue Chuckled, and started to walk down the front row, she traced her finger along the velvet chairs, looking up to Shelby,

"I do advise not insulting me any further, Lipfiller. I mark higher than you in careers, and status, I assure you I WILL inform my lawyer, the best in Ohio state by far, Gloria. Allred, as for Rebecca here, well.. let's see what happens,"

"And talking about the short term, I can just grab my phone and call school security to come remove you from the premises." Shelby smirked.

"As for your threats, eh, I'll figure something out if we ever get there." She shrugged off Sue's threats as if they were nothing.

Rachel looked at Shelby with awe. She wished she had that much courage when defending herself when Sue started insulting her. She leaned on the red chair that she was sitting on and sighed, watching Sue.
